The top 5 tips to prepare for MIPIM

Written by Anna Heyes | 05/03/25 12:14

MIPIM 2025, the highlight of the real estate calendar, is fast approaching, set to bring industry leaders, developers and investors together from around the world, for a week of pivotal discussions, regional showcases and plenty of networking.

While it may be set against a luxurious backdrop of yachts in sunny Cannes, don’t be mistaken – the four-day conference is by no means a holiday. Whether you’re a seasoned attendee or first timer, strategic preparation is needed to ensure you get a healthy ROI from your attendance.

From making sure you secure key conversations to support your sales pipeline to navigating the late-night networking scene at La Môme, find out all our tips to make sure your trip to MIPIM is worth your time and money.

1. Don’t cram your calendar

While you must head to MIPIM with a planned-out diary and a focussed plan of action to ensure you don’t get wrapped up in the waves of excitement at the event, it’s also important that you don’t fill up all the hours of the day.

Some of the best and most productive conversations can be the spontaneous ones. So before flying out, prioritise your time strategically and pre-book key meetings, but leave space for valuable opportunities that might crop up while you’re there.

Top tip: Google Maps can underestimate the congestion at MIPIM, so make sure you leave extra time in your calendar to get from place to place. You don’t want your first impression to be turning up late to chat.

2. Have content prepared

Preparation is the key to generating value from MIPIM. If your goal is to meet and generate new leads, why not have a toolkit or portfolio prepared to support your conversations? If you’re looking to boost your brand awareness, how about preparing and securing a media comment or thought leadership article based on a relevant theme from the conference?

3. Take the conversation online

Don’t let social media be an afterthought. While plenty of conversations will be happening in person at MIPIM, don’t underestimate the power LinkedIn can hold. With support for long-form and video content, this is a great place to share your opinion or continue a panel discussion online. And don’t forget to connect with any new faces you meet out at the conference.

4. Track and follow-up

Don’t spend all that time meeting and connecting with new contacts for them to become a distant memory, or missed opportunity. Make sure you make note of the conversation and have a sales and marketing strategy in place to nurture any leads post MIPIM.

5. Most importantly, enjoy Cannes!

While conversations and attending events will be your priority, don’t forget to leave time to hydrate, eat and enjoy the stunning surroundings Cannes has to offer.

Top tip: the key to enjoyment is comfy shoes (and hopefully sun).

We’ll see you over there!
