AP RECOMMENDS - MARCH '23

Read Time: 2 minutes

The clocks have gone forward, our days are lighter, and lambs are appearing in the fields. What’s not to love about this time of year? It’s officially time to be spending your work breaks and spare time outdoors – and we’ve already started.

This month has been a busy one for AP. We’ve been out at events, planning our own events and making a real effort to ensure our team’s wellbeing is the best it can be.

Check out our favourite highlights from March that we recommend trying in April.

Launch a wellbeing group

With the increased cost of living, wellbeing is needed now more than ever. A 2022 report from MetLife stated:

  • 37% of employees feel overwhelmed at work over half the time
  • 37% of employees feel burnout at work over half the time
  • Healthy employees are 74% more likely to be satisfied with the job they have now

In this month’s team meeting, we launched our wellbeing team. An interesting takeaway from the session was how ‘wellbeing’ had a slightly different meaning to each member of the team. Some liked that time to go for a run or a walk to clear their mind, while others saw it as maintaining a work-life balance or offering a chance for social interaction. Everyone is different, so we’ve gathered a group of personalities from the team to improve our wellbeing policy and activities.

The first action since launching has been an optional team walk on Thursday lunch. Admittedly, we all got bad at eating at our desks over winter, but what better way to get out of the habit than when the sun is starting to shine?

We can’t wait to see what comes next!

have a plan of action for big events

Ever come away from an event feeling like you've wasted your time? Anna got a last-minute ticket to MIPIM this month to support our clients, AY and PFP igloo. The world’s leading real estate conference had an overwhelming amount of discussions, panels and dinners, which would have been easy to get caught up in.

Due to the quick planning for the trip, Anna was able to get to suitable talks and events to make valuable connections and business leads. Although we'd have loved to have had more time to plan out the trip, Anna came away from the event with follow-up actions and key industry insight.

Join us at our Tech Climbers Yorkshire launch event

This month we’ve announced that Tech Climbers will be heading to the Yorkshire region. In 2021, we launched in Leeds for the first time. After a successful campaign, we’ve decided to open the list up to the tech businesses in the whole Yorkshire region.

Tech Climbers puts a spotlight on IP-rich, product-led tech start-up and scale-ups in local regions, raising their profile and attracting investment to UK’s developing tech sectors. Our launch breakfast is on the 12th April at Department Leeds Dock. Find out more and secure your place using the link below.

Invest in team time

We make sure to do something as a team every quarter, the last few being our Halloween and Christmas parties. Since the last two were in the office, we decided to get out on the streets of Liverpool for a virtual treasure hunt that wrapped up with a team meal.

The time gave us chance to catch up with each other, speak to those we don’t work with on a daily basis, and overall, it just makes us closer as a team and boosts morale.

Daisy Jones & The Six

As always, a key part of our office discussions revolves around our film and TV recommendations. This month, Daisy Jones & The Six has become a team favourite. Based on the novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, the musical drama series follows the rise of the rock band in 1970s LA, with them becoming worldwide sensations. A great plot and a fab soundtrack!

The TV series is currently available on Amazon Prime!
