Meet the team - Jemma

Read Time: 2 minutes

Tell us about your role…

I head up and oversee all things content here at Active Profile! My role manages the content process from strategy and ideation through to copywriting and optimisation while reporting back to clients on our content success. The thing I love most about my role is that it’s a real mix of creative and strategic thinking, especially when it comes to big branding projects, such as creating value propositions and campaigns. I also manage a team of three brilliant fellow creative writers and PR specialists.

How did you get into marketing/your role?

I knew before I’d even graduated that I wanted to secure a role in the creative industry to walk straight into after my studies, so I began to apply for entry-level copywriting roles and internships. After a few months of hammering the inboxes of every agency in Leeds (where I lived at the time), I secured a copywriting role at a really respected integrated agency, working on a roster of B2C clients such as Carluccio’s, Red Bull, IAMS, Manheim Automotive and more. In the nine years since, I’ve worked for several brill integrated marketing agencies, as well as working client-side too. Over time, I made the pivot from full-time content writing to content strategy and have never looked back!

What would be your death row meal?

A MASSIVE roast dinner, all day every day - with extra cauli cheese pleaseeee.

Embarrassing moment

Honestly, too many to list.

Favourite song on your playlist right now?

Red Light Spells Danger by Billy Ocean.

How do you spend your weekends?

Running or gymming, inhaling Rudy’s pizza, taking extravagant bubble baths, cuddling my dog, reading, cooking/pretending to be Nigella Lawson, sippin’ on Aperols with the girlies.

What’s your favourite place you’ve visited?

Rome, 10000%. I went for the first time last year and have thought about nearly every day since.

What’s one thing people might not know about you?

I’m a big advocate of mental health awareness and completed my training to become a listener volunteer for the Samaritans this year. It’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done, and I’d really encourage any fellow chatterboxes who also care about the cause to consider becoming a listener too 😊
