Pink Monday: Why we’re snubbing Blue Monday

Read Time: 1 minutes

For the past 15 years, today has been coined Blue Monday – a day in the calendar every January, usually on the third Monday of the month, which is supposed to be the most miserable day of the year. The PR team behind Blue Monday are said to have taken into account the often miserable weather conditions, people’s post-Christmas bank balances and the fact that most of us have given up on our new year’s resolutions in bid to try to sell more holidays for a travel company.

In the spirit of positivity, we want to say, no thanks Blue Monday, and we hereby name today Pink Monday.

Pink is one of our main brand colours at Active Profile, in fact, the colour pink is the colour of universal love and represents friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace, and approachability.

We asked our team for some positive things that are going on for them today and we were tickled pink by the responses.

Check out some of these heart-warming, fun and just generally happy things going on in our lives and if you’re feeling a little glum this Monday, why not practise gratitude. Write down three things that you’re grateful for, it’s guaranteed to make you feel at least a little bit better.

Here are some of our reasons to smile today:

Account executive, Frankie Hutton: “I’ve booked one holiday and have four weekends away booked.”

Marketing manager, Chloe Young: “Discovering that there is still some Christmas cake left -  yum yum!”

Director, Natalie Fox: “Less than 20 days until my new niece is born.”

Senior account executive, Jess McDonnell: “We always try to book a weekend away in January because it can feel like along month, we’re going for a weekend in Bath this year.”

MD, Anna Heyes: “There’s just 14 Mondays until AMP festival in Malta! I love my kids and husband (!) but there’s nothing like a music festival with friends in the sunshine."

Director, Nicky Hughes: “70 days until the clocks go forward and we can walk the dog in the light!”

Senior account manager, Amy Hardman: “There’s so much to look forward to at the moment. The Six Nations starts in two weeks, I have family flying over from Australia in three weeks, then I’m getting married and going away for a mini-moon.”

Other positive things happening in the world in 2020:

  • It’s Brew Monday so stick the kettle on and warm up with a nice hot cuppa. We do this regularly as a team!
  • For a lot of us, it’s less than two weeks until January payday!
  • The Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics start are taking place in summer
  • The United Nations plan to plant millions of trees across the world this year
